4.11s?

Hey guys, when I bought the car about a month ago the guy told me that it had 4.11 gears . I was wondering if theres a way I could tell by the mph and the rpms whether it does have 4.11s or still has stock gears instead of having to lift up the car like I've read some people suggest. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Re: 4.11s?

Yeah, there are sites on the net that can do that for you, you can just go to google to find one or
http://www.angelfire.com/fl/procrastination/rear.html
with that you will have to plug in all the information and probably calculate your tire diameter too then "play" with the gear ratio box until it matches the speed you were going when you measured it driving. If you use common gear ratios like it has listed then you should get fairly close although it is not perfectly acurate since your tach or speedo could be slightly off, hope this helps!

Are the RPM's up around ~2800 to do ~70 mph? (in 4th-gear I mean)

Re: 4.11s?

Speedometer display depends on the setting inside the computer. You may have 3.23s, but if inside the computer 4.11 is set, your speedo will show you lower speed than you are actually driving.
Best thing to do is either have someone who knows their speedometer is right pace you, or time how long it takes you to travel between 2 mile markers, or jack up our rear end and count #of turns of DS per 1 wheel rotation.

Re: 4.11s?

Well, with my 4.11 rear, cruising at 80 MPH is 2100 RPM.

Got any friends on the police dept? Get them to clock you to verify that your speedo is calibrated, then hit the interstate at 80 MPH and see what your RPMS are.

Re: 4.11s?

Well I just saw today that going 70mph in 4th gear I was at 2500 rpm. I guess I'll have to find better alternatives, like the ones already stated. Thanks guys.

Re: 4.11s?

2500 at 70 makes sense for an A4,that is what I figured I will turn after my T56 to 4L60E swap.

You have 4.11s

Enjoy!
