4.10 or 4.11
4.10 or 4.11
Been folloewing the rear gear talk for years and am still confised. Can some one enlighten me.
1 - who makes 4.11 gears - where to buy?
2. are 4.11 stronger than 4.10?
3. if the more teeth the weaker the gear then are 3.42's weaker than 4.11 based on the facts below?
3.42s - 41 teeth on ring gear, 12 on pinion
4.11s - 37 teeth on ring gear, 9 on pinion <--
if not why?

What Steve above said. One pertains to Ford and the GM. You can call them what you want. I belive, don't qoute my on this but, GM=4.11's and ford=4.10's. I always called them 4.10's
I just swiched over to a currie 9", and by doing that did not have the option of running 3.73's any more. They are 3.70's now, but I still call them 3.73's. Hope this all makes since???
Of course I could be wrong altogether.
Just my 2 cents.
