4:10 gears to much??
4:10 gears to much??
I have a 95 z28 with a t-56 tranny, and I was given a set of 4:10 gears, and I was wondering if it would be to much for my car? Ne one know what the top speed is with 4:10? Or what I would run rpm wise at like 70 or 80? Just wondering, ne help would be nice. Ne thing I should know about 4:10 gears??
Re: 4:10 gears to much??
Well, everybody says go with 4:10's with a 6spd.! im thinkin about it myself once i get $$ together. my friend had them in a 99 T/a 6spd and top'd out at 135-40ish...
Everybody who installs them loves them i hear, but they dont love the fact their 10 bolt doesnt last long

Re: 4:10 gears to much??
In a 6 speed I would definatly go 4.10's. I have 4.10's in my A4 and I'm beginning to think they might be too steep for my setup but I need to do some other tests first to be sure.
Re: 4:10 gears to much??
For the hard numbers check out my calculator
BTW, Brain is correct you will be just below 2200 RPM's @ 80 MPH
In my A4 I plan on getting 4.10's, and my 4th gear is about the same ratio as your 5th
So you will be fine running them!

Re: 4:10 gears to much??
yea, I wasn't sure if I wanted to go 4.10's at first, but after I did it, it's probably the best thing I have done so far. It's like driving a whole new car. I say go for it.
