3.90 gear

anyone running a 3.90 gear in their aftermarket rear with an M6? how do you like it as compared to 3.73's or 4.10's?

i have 3.90's and love them. I have heard 3.73's aren't enough and 4.10's are too much so they were a natural choice for me.

Are these available for a 12 bolt? I've head that they're only available for the Ford rearends.

yes, 3.90's are available for the 12 bolt chevy rear.

hey z95m6, tell me about your 8.8 rear, how does it compare to the ford 9" & chevy 12 bolt on weight, durability, & cost?

I have read that the 8.8 is almost as strong as a 9 inch. I believe it weighs less too. I have never weighed the two but i have many 9 inches and they are big big boys compared to this thing. I got my rear from craig at www.extremechassis.com i think i can check on the link later if that isn't it. He owns a chassis shop where he builds tube chassis for race cars. I called and talked to him and he said that he has set the pinion angle and everything just like stock and has a jig built so they are all the same. Since i am just a college kid and i rarely go to the track that much i opted for the 28 spline rear. For 1200 shipped i got a rear 90% ready to go in. The rear had new gears, rebuilt posi, and all new bearings and seals ready to go. All i had to do was put in my stock camaro axles and backing plates on and i was ready to go. The Rear went in with out a hitch. I believe for 1600 + shipping you can get the 31 spline unit with moser axles. I may upgrade in the future. Now that there is a solution for keeping your ABS with ford rearends i would probably recommend this set up over the others because it is very strong with the 31 spline version and much cheaper than the rest. There is a guy on our kansas fbody club that has one and loves it too. His is 31 spline. I bet a 12 bolt and 9 inch are stronger but the FOMOCO boys put these 8.8's through some pretty brutal 60' times. If you have more questions feel free to ask.
