3.73's or 4.10's For my 10 Bolt M6 Z28 (NOT a DD or Highway Car - About 400RWHP)

Running a 95 Camaro Z28 with a moderate HP engine. It has not been on a dyno yet but I am guessing right around 400RWHP (major mods in sig). The gears in the thing right now are not to my liking. 1ST gear will bring me up to 45mph (or something high, not sure of the speed exactly) and even on the expressway at 70MPH I cant use 6th (my cam/motor does not like low RPM's) I did some research and found that my trans is a "MM6" code - Not positive if this is standard or not, but here is the numbers:
MM6 = Tremec T56
1ST: 2.660
2ND: 1.780
3RD: 1.300
4TH: 1.000
5TH: 0.740
6TH: 0.500

And the Rear End is a "GU6" = 3.42 (Standard I believe)

This car is not my daily driver and its not on the express way for more than 15 miles or so every few weeks. I want to unlock the potential torque at lower speeds with some gears, and higher gears (numerically) will make letting the clutch out in 1st a little easier (see my other post about making this clutch easier).

So I know once you have a lot of power the higher gears can actually hurt you. I am not concerned with grip at this point I just don't want to launch and have to shift in half a second. With the power I have do you think I would push threw 1st with 4.10's to quick or have a very hard time getting grip?

So do you recommend 3.73 or 4.10?
I know the 10 bolt is not a strong rear end but I do not plan on running any slicks or dropping the clutch to often.

Yea, I think I agree. Im not to concerned with the 1/4 mile time or MPG, its really just a fun car to drive around, and whats more fun that torque!..

4.10's ordered!

thanks

You really don't see a lot of loss of MPG with the T56.... not with those two deep O/D gears. Don't worry about the mileage. You will need some sticky tires though.

For future reference. I went with 4.10's and I couldn't be happier. So many (non Camaro) car guys suggested 3.73 over 4:10, but its perfect with this trans. So much easier to drive and damn she pulls!!! If your debating -- 4:10 all the way. I have not checked my effect on the 1/4 mile, its just a lot more fun to drive

Glad you like them, there are too many that afraid to put a decent gear in.
'Fear the Gear' or at least the car that has them.
Hell,I'm 4.56s' in an automatic.
