A4 cars did not come with 3.42's, only manuals did. Auto cars either came with 2.73 or 3.23. Check your door sticker with all the codes on it. GU2 is for 2.73, GU5 is for 3.23.

I'm not sure what ratio you have. I do know that you can spot the cars with the less than stellar gears by the lack of a low gear position on the gear select indicator. I'm thinking it was the 93's that had a 3.23 ratio. But that may have been specific to the 6 speed cars since they had a deeper set of gears for 1st-3rd. Don't know for sure.

If you're thinking it doesn't seem like enough of a jump to go from 3.42 to 3.73, it'll be a serious kick in the pants! With an A4, that would be as high as I would go. From my personal experience, 4.10's are too deep for an auto trany if it's a daily driver.

PCM needs to know the gear ratio.

Going from 3.23's to the 3.73's will make it feel like you added 15% more rear wheel torque.

some tuning places will reflash your pcm if it's within a certain window of you getting your car tuned.

ask the person who tuned your car if they would just change the ratio real quick... it takes a whole 3 seconds and even a novice can do it.

those gears will really wake up your car. I want 3.90's or 4.10's for mine but fear the rearend will kill over. how good was that mail tune from trifecta? I'll be needing a tune soon.
