3-4 clutch pack
3-4 clutch pack
After much research on this site I believe the best 3-4 clutch pack combo that I need is:
(6) .079" Kolene coated steels
(7) Borg warner high energy frictions
Stock top and bottom pressure plates
If this is correct then my questions are:
1) I can only find .080" coated steels. Will this work
2) What size Borg frictions should go with this set up
3) what are the part numbers for these or where could I find these
4) I also read that I may need 1 .063" steel if clearance is too tight. What defines too tight

I assume this is for a 4L60E? Then you are looking to get .020" - .035" 3-4 clutch clearance, when using a Corvette servo. With a larger 2nd apply servo (Sonnax or Superior), you can run a little more clearance here. The Kolene steels vary from .076" to .080" in thickness. The 4L60E Borg Warner Hi-Energy clutch will be .079" - .084" in thickness variation. The 4L65E Borg Warner Hi-Energy clutch will be .064" - .067" in thickness variation. You can make an 8 count with the 4L60E clutches and a 9 count with the 4L65E clutches here. Both work very well. With a 700R4 you want to run more clutch clearance .040" - .055".
