2800 Stall Converter with 2.73s....Interesting

Ever install a custom built 2800 stall converter "designed" for 3.73s, when you still have 2.73s....very interesting.

I think the computer's going nuts trying to figure out what's happening. It's driving very strange in overdrive...not in actual overdrive...but the D with the circle around it.

It drives fine in just D or 2, when it's "forced" stay in stay in gear. But in OD, it's not shifting as expected.

In D, it's "stalling" around 3K which I expected and it's a little mushy. Feels like I'm relearning to drive. You can't just let off the gas like before when you're already in fourth and the car keeps moving. You still kinda have to give it a little gas to keep it from slowing down awkwardly.

Was going to wait a little to put the 3.73s in, but guess I need to hurry it up.

The good news is that it hauls A$$ in D. Cruising around 50 and you want to accelerate...you're already in the power band. No more waiting to rev 1000 rpms to get moving. Now it's instantaneous motion...can't wait to get the 3.73s in.

So my advice you people doing stall and gears...DO GEARS FIRST.

Lastly...any issues or damage to my car if I drive in D for a few weeks?

When you put the gears in it will feel alot more street friendly. I had 3.23s when the Vig. 2800 went in. The first few times I drove the car I thought maybe it was a little to much stall. No way. Got use to it real fast, and once the 3.73s went in, it was perfect. Now I'm thinking about a 3400 to 3600 stall.
