2000 Z28 3.42 in a 96Z28

Will a set of 3.42 gears from a 2000 Z28 compatible with my car. It's only the ring and pinion. If it does work, would it be okay to buy the rest of the parts from cmotorsports.com to complete the install such as (pinion shims, carrier shims, crush sleeve, pinion seal, pinion nut, ring gear bolts, cover gasket, and pinion & carrier bearings ) or would i have to get the original parts that came with the gears?

Which parts? Just the 3.42 ring and pinion from the '00 for your '96? Yeah, the gears themselves are exactly the same for all years of 4th-gens, except for the 2-series / 3-series difference.
