1995 Z28 Transmission fluid leak
This is my first thread and I am wondering if anyone else ever encountered this problem.
My car just recently started marking a whinning noise when put into gear (like a bearing going noise). I proceeded to take it to a tranmission shop, they said it was fine, figure it was the exhaust shield making the noise.
The car still shifts perfect, however today I noticed where the dust cover is and the front of the tranmission pan is soaked in fluid. Now for the first time since the noise came in it went down on fluid. The noise came into the car about 300 miles ago.
Is there some seal in there that could have went, as the car is leaving puddles now? I am going to take it back in Monday morning, but has anyone else had this problem.
Specs on car:
1995 Z28, LT1, Automatic, flowmaster, K&N, chipped
89,000 miles (I am from canada, but the car is from the US)

Re: 1995 Z28 Transmission fluid leak
Hi. My car is doing the same thing. I always found that the tranny pan bolts would vibrate loose over time and that they needed to be tightened up every once in a while. I took the dust cover off of mine; it makes it much easier to find the leak. Then i put cardboard underneath to see which side of the car the leak was. Mine leaks where the shift linkage goes into the transmission, and maybe slightly on the right front side of the pan itself. I'm getting it fixed on Monday, probably be about $100 for the seal, tranny pan gasket and filter, tailshaft seal, and top up fluid.

Welcome to CamaroZ28.com.
Please review the posting guidelines. There are specific forums for specific topics. Questions about the tranny go on the "Drivetrain" forum. I'll move the post there for you......

Thanks for the info though, I will keep that in mind.

Well just to follow up
The pump spun the bushing and ruined the pump, groved the TC and all the clutches inside were burnt. Springs between first and second were all broke. Turns out the transmission had been replaced before, they said the valve body, and TC were from a 4.3L S-10 setup. It looked pretty dim inside the trans when I saw it.
So I had it rebuilt with the 2200 Corvette stall, corvette servo and finally shift kit. Was quite expensive, $2900 after taxes. (2490 before taxes).
