1995 z28

auto...i was wondering what can the stock rear end take..like what gears to be safe... i want 3:73 in it

The stock rear end has a bad rep, not entirely deserved. If you don't put slicks on it or do a lot of hole shots it will be fine. 3.73:1 will certainly wake the car up and still have pretty reasonable highway rpm. 3.73's will see 2,700rpm at 75mph in OD. Not unreasonable but expect your gas mileage to drop significantly.

None are "safer" than others to any appreciable degree.

The choices for the 10-bolt are:

2.73:1
3.08:1
3.23:1
3.73:1
3.90:1
4.10:1
4.56:1

I've never seen anyone selling a 3.55:1 for the 7.5" 10-bolt.

What gears do you have now?

i thought i had gears but it was stock ones..i was racing this 05 stang with 3:73 it was just crazy watching him jump like 4 cars..so i want gears.lol
