1994 tranny problems
I have a 1994 Z28 with an auto transmission. I bought the car with a bad trans. I found one from a guy that said it was a GM rebuild. It cam out of a 1995. Since it was installed it was slipping going from 1st to 2nd. Engine winds up.
I have had it with used trannys. I want to take it out and have it rebuilt. I screwed up. I junked the old one. People are telling me that it has to be a 1994 transmission going in a 1994 car.
Now what do I do.

Re: 1994 tranny problems
The 94 uses a switched lockup on the converter, the 95 is pulse width modulated lockup. When you swapped the 95 trans into the 94, how did you resolve the issue? That's the part that is not compatible between the two years.

Re: 1994 tranny problems
If I take out the 1995 trans and bring it to the rebuild shop can they make it a 1994. Can they convert it to a switched lock-up converter? Do I need to change any wiring or electronics?
Thanks, Nick

Re: 1994 tranny problems
A trans shop could probably do the modification if they are familiar with the differences. You shouldn't need to modify anything else on the car if they make it like a 94.
