1993 M6 trans

I need to have my trans rebuilt this winter and my only question is, what is it considered to be?

Its the low end 1993 tranny (M28 (3.something first gear) is low and M29 is high) is this M28 trans that i have considered to be a T56? I only ask this because its not a COMMON trans for rebuilds from the research that i've done. Will T56 parts interchange with an M28?

I plan to have www.t56rebuilds.com do the work, and am writing them a letter about my concern, but i wondered if anyone has done this before. I know i should just buy a t56, but i am on a limited budget and unless i can get a good one for around $1000, i can't do it, plus i don't have the wiring for the electronics (be it CAGS anyway). I may be wrong that i neeed wiring to begin with.

any help on this is greatly appreciated.

You have a T56. The two 93 trannies (M28 and M29) are both T56's. So is the later years' "MN6". M28, M29 and MN6 are RPO codes, not the manufacturer's designation for the tranny. The differences in the trannies are the gear sets, and lack of skip shift on the 93's. Other than that, they are identical.

Your 93 ECM does not have an interface for skip shift (CAGS) and your M28 doesn't have a skip sift solenoid. The only thing you would possibly gain in using a later model T56 would be the increased torque capacities, resulting mainly from the 2.66 1st gear ratio used in the MN6. You would simply not wire up the skip shift solenoid, because you have nothing to wire it to.
