16k Oem Clutch Slipping Normal?
16k Oem Clutch Slipping Normal?
I think that I did in my clutch the last time I took the car to the track. I haven't had much experience with clutch problems and I can't believe that the stock clutch (16k miles) couldn't handle 320hp but if I try down shifting at a decent rpm, the tach goes up and no tire spin. I can also smell what probably is the clutch burning. Is this unusual for a stock clutch? Should I try to get it fixed at the dealer under warranty? Is it even covered under warranty? I know in the future I will be doing LT's, cam and heads so I will need a performance clutch eventually. Would it just be a waste of time to try to put a stock replacement one in or should I bite the bullet and replace it with a performance one? Thanks
Re: 16k Oem Clutch Slipping Normal?
If its still under warranty why not have them replace it? Did 02's come with the Z06 style clutch? Maybe that was just on all C5's. If its a stock LS1 style clutch ask them when they replace it if they can upgrade to a Z06 clutch. I've heard of dealers doing things like that under warranty since it is still a GM product they are installing.

Yea, a clutch is a "wear" item so i don't know if it would be covered but it is worth a shot. Take it in and tel them it just started smelling when you were driving up a hill
