You would have to:

-check the width to see if it is correct, and have it narrowed if its too wide.
-fabricate a mount for the torque arm
-modify the housing ends to accept the disc brakes and e-brake
-strip all mounting brackets, and weld on your old stock brackets for the shocks, springs, panhard rod and LCA's.
-check to see if the 12-bolt has a posi
-check to see if the 12-bolt has the gear ratio you want
-check to see if the diff needs to be rebuilt.

Its been done, but it takes a lot of work, and a lot of money. And a "truck" 12-bolt is not the same as a "car" 12-bolt, and requires different parts than a rear obtained from a car. The truck 12-bolt has a 1.438" pinion, compared to the 1.625" pinion in the passenger car 12-bolt, for example.

i think what Injuneer is actually trying to tell you is, the money and time spent converting a truck rear is better spent on a rear desighned for you car.

When I said "its been done", I meant someone went to all that trouble to put a CAR 12-bolt in his 4th Gen. After he got all done, I think he saved about $500 off of what he would have spent for a Strange or Moser 12-bolt. He did all the work, including the welding himself, including building a jig. He said he would never do it again, because the work he put into was not worth the $$$ he saved.

I was not indicating that anyone I know has converted a TRUCK 12-bolt. Sorry if I mislead you.
