12-bolt vs 10-bolt dyno results
Well it seems like the more money I spend on my car, the less power it makes.
I started off with 405rwhp, 365rwtq through the T56, 1LE driveshaft and stock 10-bolt with 4.11 gears. Then I switched over to a built 4L60E with an Vigilante 3500rpm converter and that brought my numbers down to 368rwhp, 354rwtq. (37hp loss, 11tq loss between T56 and A4) Here's the old thread.

Then I dynotuned it and picked up 21hp and 12tq bring my numbers back to 389rwhp, 365rwtq. Too bad I never dynotuned it when it still had the T56
Anyhow, over the winter I switched over to a Strange 12-bolt with 3.73 gears and a Denny's driveshaft a raised my stall to 4500rpm but with the same 2.5str as before. I didn't weight the driveshaft but its easily 3 times heavier than the stock steel driveshaft. With the same tune above today I put down 363rwhp, 375rwtq. So thats a 26hp loss but 10tq gain between the 10-bolt and 12-bolt. The reason why the torque went up was because I was flashing the converter on the dyno. On one run where I started at 4500rpm so it wouldn't flash, it only made 350rwtq.
Now all I have to do is get that damn thing in the 11s, I'm so close

STR (stall torque ratio) has nothing to do with power loss through the converter at high revs. So, while your numbers are interesting they don't say anything about the loss in rwhp from the 12-bolt, since you also made a big change in the converter as well as the driveshaft. I doubt much (if any) of the difference is due to the 12-bolt.

Yeah same here I bet if you had the 10 bolt you'd have less power because of the 4.11 gears, the higher stall and heavier Denny's steel drive shaft prolly ate a lot.

Well all that is irrelevant now. I won't be running it at the track for a while. The car blew up this morning and left a trail of internal engine parts and oil all over the road. Time to build that stroker
