12-Bolt Bearings vs 10-bolt?!

I have a Moser 12-Bolt rear end. My driver's side bearing looks like they're shot. Are these bearings the same as the 10-Bolt rear-end?
Can I go to a store an order a set of bearings for a 1996 Camaro rear axle, without specifying it's a 12-bolt?

If somebody here has a cross reference numbers that I can use in the event that it's not the same, please, feel free to provide as much information as you can.

Another question, how do you guys order the gasket for the cover? Part numbers, brand, will also be helpful.
Thx-Goose

My DTS 12-bolt has Ford bearings pressed on to eliminate the c-clips so if you have the same set-up in your rear, I'd say call Moser to find out what part #s they use for the bearings and the gasket.

Speaking of eliminating C-Clips...is that something I can convert my current set-up to? I do some drag racing, with high rpm launches, and c-clips are actually a liability for that kind of usage.

C-clips are a big enough danger that NHRA will not allow them on any car running 10.99 or quicker, or using a spool. When the clip lets go, the axle comes out of the tube.... looks funny to the spectators when the wheel/axle goes rolling off into the grass, but not a lot of fun for the driver.

Not to funny if it's coming for them

I don't think I'll ever get my car to run that fast, Fred.
But, yeah, that's something to keep in mind.

Check this Link , it's a eliminator kit for Moser axles at SummitRacing. It includes bearings and seals and runs about 150$ Not sure if this is the exact one you need, call Moser to find out. I have read that c-clip eliminators do interfere with the factory parking brake hardware.

Edit: link doesn't go straight to item # MSR-9000, just through that into part # search.

Good info man. I'll definitely look at that. My mechanic has not taken my rear-end apart yet to find out what's wrong with it. I'll see if my 12-bolt has the C-Clips or not. I bought it used from a guy who had it on a 2002 Camaro SS a year sgo, and I'm not certain about the set-up I got to be quite honest. I'm assuming it does have the c-clips since it has the posi/TC spool thing, and I don't hear any locking mechanism being activated when I drive or race...

Re: 12-Bolt Bearings vs 10-bolt?!

Great news!
First of all, the only damage was the left side axle bearing. I went ahead and had both sides axles bearings replaced. Second, I do not have c-clips! That was great to find out, also, my 12-bolt has 33-spline axles.
I had bought that Moser 12-bolt used, so I really didn't know what I was getting, since I only paid $1000.00 for it, plus my 10-bolt. This was from a guy who had it on a 2002 Camaro SS which was leased, and was about to return the car with that 12-bolt to the dealer after his lease was up. I thought the guy was on crack for even trying to return it like that, so I jumped at the opportunity.
Anyway, the bearings was a pain in the butt to find, but I was able to locate them at Mark Williams Enterprises ( http://www.markwilliams.com/ )which are headquarted 10 miles from where I'm at. That was great. Got me some awesome quality bearings.

Fred, I think I can now go for 10.99 Hehe! J/K
