10 bolt strength

Does anybody know what the stock rear in a 84 firebird can take? the car use to have a 2.8 in it but now has a 331 cranking about 430 to 450 hp. How strong would it be if i droped a eaton center section and some moser or strange axles in it?

Automatic or stick?

Steet tires/DR's or slicks?

A good posi and upgraded axles are a good start, but the 10 bolt is just a weak casting.

Re: 10 bolt strength

Its a auto with a 3500 stall and a stage 2 shift kit. I havnt put the wheels on it yet im going to try and see if i can fit a 9 or 10" wide weld prostar rim in it. I would like to run some M/T ET DRs but i think it would put to much stress on the rear end. i have a set of 12" wide dunlops that im puting on for now.

Re: 10 bolt strength

Junk it and get a 12 bolt or a 9"

That 10bolt is gonna die a horrible death!
