My stock SS did fine with street driving and a few good burn outs every now and then to entertain the passengers. Although, the posi was a little slippy, on/off unless I was in a perfect stright line. This iwas on a 55k SS SLP(?) rear. Held up that way until I sold it at 71k

Broke my Slp 10 bolt 4 times with stock HP (well, headers and cai, running 12.8s) SLP and auburn carrier twice, stock 3.42s once and couple teeth off 4.10s once

Now i have just over twice the HP and the same rear end. shift like a grandma untill i can aford a 12bolt

i have 150k on my 10 bolt. have 5k on engine rebuild/380 rwhp and can't stop thinking about my rear blowing up at the track with drag radials. however no noises and both wheels spin during burn out!

It now has 163k on it and I have gone 1.8 sixty foots at the track. Thats not really pushing it I know but its seen plenty of street abuse and still seems to be fine.
Scratch that.........I blew it up 2 weeks ago.
Installed a 2.73 gear rear end I had laying out in the yard and fragged the rear Ujoint Friday nite.
Not touching it again till I buy a strong rear.

One wheel of fury after nitto 555's where installed. 80 thousand on car, and 31 of those were HARD fought miles.

Mine broke within 20 minutes of the first time it had slicks on it. This was a 4.10 geared 10-bolt.

Re: 10 bolt check... hows everyones rear holding up?

mine broke idling down the road in 6th at 1000rpm about 6 months after a crazy wheelhop incident..... driving down the road then i hear POP... CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK... the PIN that holds the thing together snapped in three places... and then it shot around through the gears like a bullet ricocheting off rocks

Anyway, I replaced the 3.42s with 4.56s and have been beating on it ever since... but now that I'm thinking about installing a spec stage 3 and new tires...................... I'm getting myself a little worried that the traction will kill it again quick...

Broke a tooth off pinion (373 richmond gear set), and cracked the torsen diff case. I went with a moser and truetrac. Rear could not take 383 with D1.

Re: 10 bolt check... hows everyones rear holding up?

Stock 10 bolt, basically stock motor, added MOTIVE 4.10's and a Centerfoce dual friction clutch, and still holding up... Afraid to mount DR's..... Gm built the car figuring, either clutch is gonna slip or tires are gonna spin.... you take away both of those, and bad things are bound to happen

Re: 10 bolt check... hows everyones rear holding up?

Stock 10 bolt with stock 3.43's with my GM847 LE2 Car.. I use street tires due to the fact that I think I would break the damn thing with dropping the clutch at 6k. But I have driven hard sometimes with my new setup and it seems to be working great, along with the original tranny.
