why oh why
Just a little back ground. Our track is around 4000 feet.I have a 1995 Z28 that in the 2002 season was set up with a 383 AFR 210 heads, with a vortech s-trim with under drive pulley 30lb injectors and ford 9" 4:10 gears 6 speed tranny. Chassis dynoed 510 rwhp. at the track the best time I had was 12.52 at 118mph all season.
Thought maybe still not enough air so for the 2003 season I installed a accel superram intake with the1000cfm throttlebody. installed accel DFI, 55 lb injectors dumped the opti spark and went sequential with a hei distributor. 28' tall tires and a built 350 turbo tranny with transbrake. best time for 2003 was 12.48 at 114mph but could pull the front wheels off the ground 6 inches and had a 1.6 60 foot time. nothing like an expensive slowdown. all I have been trying to do is get in the tens which should have been acomplished with this setup.I'm just curious if anyone has any ideas why.
I haven't made it to the track yet this year. maybe in a couple of weeks after I get the engine back ( we just finshed all the plumbing) My new set up is still a built 383 with all the best parts. t60-1 p-trim twin turbos with intercooler. 160lb injectors, completely new aeromotive fuel system rated for over 1000hp, mufflers with straight pipes. 15gallon fuel cell. relocated battery, BMR tubular k-member with pinto rack, no a/c, power steering or abs, and so much more.

I would get back to the dyno and work on the program. We have a number of N/A street driven small blocks out there turning 118 MPH in the 1/4. Hell my N/A 383 with ported stock heads in my 95Z averages 121 MPH in the 1/4.
Is your PCM pulling a lot of timing during the run?

thing is, I had it on the chassis dyno and made 510hp to the rear wheels. my thinking is that the blower was to small and I was turning it to fast so it was more of a hinder than a help. although I haven't seen very many n/a small blocks at our altitude break 120mph. as I said before now I dumped the vortech and now have twin turbos so I am sure my problems will be solved. I just never quite understood why it acted the way it did
