Who's got the fastest n/a Lt1...
Bad97ss I've been following Projectz28 also. Its a real good car and well thought out. I notice that you said he had a stock 10bolt. Well when I added a 12bolt I slowed down .07 because it weighs 70#s more than the 10bolt,but I changed to the stronger rearend because I bracket race every other weekend and need the reliablility. Also in the past when i've posted times I've had equal amounts of people saying no big thing I could do it and some saying no way buddy i have ported heads and I only run 12.20's
. Being na and dependent on weather if I can get some good air this year or early next year i'll run 11.40's or 50's just like my car sits right now. Frank95z

Steve, sorry to hear about the weather.I just knew you were gonna pop out a 9 before it got to bad. I'm gonna try one more time before I winterize mine..Hopefully the track hasn't gone away to bad..shoot me a e-mail sometime. Running what you have so far with only 370 ci. and with the heads your using is just awesome.. much respect from this corner
Frank95z I know how you feel when people tell you, that your car motor is not stock. Projectz28 goes throw this all the time. People knocking what he's got. LT1's are pretty good motors stock. People just have to know how to make them work. What are you running for tuning? Projectz28 ran in the 11's with stock tuning. Now is working on tuning to get more out of it. As for the 10 bolt we beefed it up. Welded the tubes, rca's,and girdle. Also little less backlash. Slowed up with 4.10 in it so thinking about going back to 3.73. Hope thinks work out for you in getting in the low 11's.
My car was a factory AC-delete car. I have raced it since new. When I started I was on a tight budget. The motor had zero miles, so I decided to run it in Pure Stock first. I only ran it at one quarter mile race and it ran 12.8's. I ran eighth mile races a lot and had a best of 7.94 with zero internal modifications.
The next year I installed a cam and valve springs, new rings and bearings and ran 11.32 and 7.10.
These times are by no way the "fastest" that anyone has run, but they are the ones that I recorded a few years back.
The motors that I run now are still not that far from stock.
Best Regards,
Daren

Like I said, no internal modifications. In Pure Stock you can run the exhaust one of two ways. Open factory manifolds or headers thru mufflers. I chose the latter.
The car had a pretty good suspension (bolt ons only) and had high 1.6 sixty foot times on 9" slicks.
There is a gentleman that is running 12.50's with a Camaro in Pure Stock at most of the Division 9 races. I believe that his car even has the factory rear still in it! And I think that he drives it to the track!!
The cam that I swapped in is a Lunati grind with 256/266 duration @ .050 with factory lift. This cam is by no means a street cam, but then you guys could probably make just as much horse power with more lift and less duration.
My point in posting here, is as always, to point out how good the factory parts really are (except the rear axle).

Now I get it you're car is a stock eliminator car. My friends down here Pat Joffrion,Jimmy Hidalgo,Jarod Grainer and Phil Acosta have at one time run that cam in their stockers. But unless you're running backcut valves, decked heads and the other stocker tricks
on you're heads you're leaving some et on the table. Gump if you consider stocker heads as stock
then Woodrow went 10.50's with his. Different people have different guidlines but I don't consider decked heads,or massaged valve jobs as stock heads. I have a set of Woodrow heads and thin head gaskets but when I put them on I'll not consider my heads stock. But thats just me.
If you're running stock-stock heads e-mail me and I might be able to hook you up with something better.Just a guess are you Daren Poole Adams. Frank95z

Daren Poole-Adams, yes that would be me. I have raced Stock Eliminator for a few years now.
I talk to Woodro from time to time. Jarrod is a good guy. The others I only know of.
All that know me also know that I am hard headed! I have chosen to learn one step at a time.
When I ran Pure Stock the motor was as it came from the factory. When I ran D/SA for the first time the cam/springs was the only change to the motor. I have since built better motors, but I choose to only make one change at a time. I like to know which modifications really work.
I also have a stack of transmissions, converters, tires, wheels, and a ton of suspension parts.

Daren good to meet you. This is an interesting thread. If I may ask when you added cam and springs only, at D/sa weight how quick did you go with that change and a stock shortblock and heads. Now I suppose you had the big converter, gears, turbo 350 at that time right. And were you using the stock computer or dfi when you made the change. I have access to a stocker cam, heads, throttle body, etc. and I was wondering where would be my starting point. If you feel a bite strange sharing info on the web e-mail me. Frank Benoit
