Where should I shift?

Where should I shift to make the most power and stuff. Usually when I gun it on the freeway I take it up to about 5500 on the tach in first and second. What is it governed at (stock)? My car is mainly stock, just want to know where the power is for shifting, thanks.

You've got it right by shifting at ~5,500 on a stock motor.

You should be limited just over 6000 rpm.

I believe stock LT1s horsepower peaks at 5500 rpm. However, when I am racing I will take it a little past 5500 rpm so, when I powershift my rpm won't drop as much.

that's a good question. I have no idea. Maybe you should just buy a Z-28. Then you will have a V8. Early LT1 Camaros are actually getting quite cheap in price.
