Whant your opinion...
Want your opinion...
Went to the track yesterday, LT1 383 SC 4l60e (vig high stall) Strange 12 bolt 3.42...ET Steets.
http://forum.camaro.nu/filmer/z28_040912.mov
Suspension: Lowering springs, stock? shocks in front adjustable AGX rear (1-3 setup) no front swaybar, relocation brackets, BMR lower controlarms (poly), stock torquearm (reinforced), subframe connectors. Best 60foot was 1,54
How much gain should i see if i install QA1 (shocks and springs) in front and a adjustable torquearm (not tranny mont) ?
About the times, 10,98 125,6mph Hitting the revlimiter on 2->3 shift (slipping tranny) planing to install a 4l80e this winter... Also need a lower stall, never see under 5100 on the strip, shift att 5900 so it looks like a lot of power disapear in heat true the converter...

Re: Whant your opinion...
If your tires are hooking, changing shocks and springs won't do diddly.
If your tranny is slipping you don't have a good baseline.
If the converter is not right you don't have a good baseline.
I'd be looking at a turbo 400 if I were you.

Re: Whant your opinion...
Hmmm good points.
Have done 6-8 starts in the 1.60-70 widh tire spinn...
Only 2 under 1.6 hard to say if its a lot of tire spinn then (there is little), should need a couple of more starts on the strip to find out... The season is over for this year so it has to wait...(The tranny is not slipping at 1 and 2nd gear)...
Im planing to install a 4L80E this winter so a new torque arm is a must, was curios if i should notice any diffrence
Properbly in need of QA1 for "street" racing.... Will see how much the tranny swap costs first....
Thanks

Re: Whant your opinion...
Just for your info...my converter is matched to my combo and when I spray the car the tach goes to 5200-5300 and I shift at 6200. The tach never goes below 5800 going down the track. So there is not a lot of powerband but the car stays where it makes peak power the whole way down the track. Good converters will keep your car in the powerband and not drop below. A th400 will be the way to go with your combo.
Good Luck

OK
If you look at my dyno papers (the right one on the links below)
http://home.koping.net/u3243a/Tavling2004/DSC01938.JPG engine torque

Looks to me that i shouldnt hurt if it stall a little less or what do you think?
Having plans to add a little shot of nitrous later on....
About th400, i drive the car a lot on the streets and never on a trailer to the track so i dont like the ide of losing my overdrive...

Re: Whant your opinion...
By the looks of the graph a 4000k stall should be good for your combo. A 4l80e is a heavy trans but if you want overdrive then this will be the trans to get. A th400 with 3.70's and a 28" tall tire works well in my combo. My car cruises at 65 mph down the highway at 2800-3000rpms.

Re: Whant your opinion...
It shouldnt be any stronger than my 4L60E or?
We have worked all summer to get the 2nd->3rd shift to work... Vacuum modulator, rebuilt pump (min tolerans) tried diffrent lamell package, biggest valves, modified shiftkit from transgo after ideas from probuilt, new bushings twice, modify the shift kit more, tried anti slip fluid etc etc dont remember how many times we modified it and i dont wont to ruin another summer

I have hadc a difficult time keeping my 700R4 in one piece. It was just rebuilt, courtesy of TCI, and feels very strong at this point but I am looking to probably sell it this winter and put in a TH400.
