very disappointing times - advice please

I went to Milan, MI last night to see what the car would run with the new mods. Unfortunately, it hadn't had a good run at the track previously, so I can't compare. Anyway, here is a good list of my mods: Hooker LT headers, true duals, pulleys, MSD 6AL, CAI, SLP clutch set. Thats the main stuff. Its a 6-speed car with stock 3.42s in it, and Kumho street tires (both the gears and tires are going to be gone in a few days). Here's the best timeslip (the rest were very similar but slightly slower):

60 ft - 2.339
330 ft - 6.119
1/8 ET - 9.250
1/8 MPH - 78.54
1000 ft - 11.927
1/4 ET - 14.196
1/4 MPH - 99.59

I also have the Datamaster .uni log of that run if anyone wants to check it out. I have no idea why those times suck so bad! I know that my 60' sucks, and I was doing a crappy job at launching, but I still think it should be much better than that. There was a guy there with another '95 car, and he had LT headers and true duals, and he was running 13.3 conisistently. His car was very similar to mine as far as mods (I might have even had more) but he had ET Streets compared to my street tires. He also had an A4 but 3.73 gears.

Going down the track, it sounded great (my friend in the stands said so too) and I was shifting fast. I can't understand what the problem is! Please give me some advice as to why my car is so slow!

How were the weather conditions? Heat and humidity will kill times.

robvas - I have an MSD 6AL ignition with MSD wires and new NGK plugs, so I don't think thats a problem. It wasn't breaking up at all, and sounded good up top. I don't think I have a vacuum leak, but I can double check. I don't have any of the normal signs of that, though. Getting some knock, but not much. I'd have to look at the data log, but I think it was only like 6 degrees max. I have the stock valvetrain (never opened a valve cover even) but I only have 50k on the clock.

dirtybird96 - it was pretty hot, but not too humid. Also, I ran the time posted at almost 10pm. I have a 160 deg t-stat and tuned the fans to come on early. The car wasn't very hot at all.

Any other ideas? Could it just be crappy tires?

Something is not right, man. Your trap speed should be around 104 mph with an m6. It could be lots of things. Forgive me for asking but are you running premium gas cuz if not theres some of your problem.

Yeah, I am sure something is not right. I only run Ultra 94 gas in that car. What the hell could be going on?? Even though I was spinning through most of first, my MPH should still be up there, right?

Heh, he should be trapping AT LEAST 104 or more with an M6. I trap 104 through an auto and I have virtually the same mods. I don't have true duals, but just about everything else is the same. You said you're getting knock, I have no knock. Did you put in the LT4 Knock Module? It could be what's holding you back. Good luck with it.

Yeah, I was being conservative with 104. Hell, my trap is in my sig and thats an a4 with stock manifolds and a cutout.

Your 60 foots are terrible, they are killing your ET and MPH a lot more than you realize. That auto was prolly cutting 1.7-1.8s depending if he had a stall. Get it to hook in good cold air and I'm sure the story would be different. But dont expect much on a 2.3 sixty.

i would think you could of done way better, but those kumhos are killing you. just got back from the track and i couldnt get my kumho 711's to hook if my life depended on it. all four runs ended up in the mid 14's, no matter if i feathered it out of the hole as soon as i floored it the rear came loose till about third gear. your times could definately benefit from some et streets.

?? I got a 2.04(and several others to back it up) out of my Kuhmo 711s. Was pretty consistant with them after I figured out what to do.

Well I obviously haven't figured out what to do yet You could let me in on your technique with Kumhos, but I am getting new tires this week. So - drag radials or ET Streets?

I had consistent 2.2's with my 711's. M6 car and within my first two weeks of owning the car so I couldn't launch near as well as I can now.

I hope the Supra 712's I just ordered hook better. We'll see.

Thanks for all the help guys. I think I found the problem - 2 burnt plug wires I'm ordering an OVC setup (and drag radials) this week. So hopefully I'll be where I want to be after that.
