Found the limits of the stock TQ arm!

I went to the track tonight, trying to bust into the 11's. Well, maybe not 11's but at least low 12's.

I had 26x10.5x16 ET Streets on it, with some Weld Draglites on the front. It's a heads/cc306 car with a 6-speed, 12-bolt (4.11) and STOCK suspension with 106k on the ticker.

First pass out did a weak burnout, and launched at 4000. Car was kinda lazy off the line-didn't spin, but didn't bog either. Just kinda drove off the line.

60': 1.825
ET: 12.505
MPH: 111.19

Keep in mind my best times before today was on BFG Drag Radials and stock 10 bolt, which was a 1.836, 12.700, 112.53 (MPH was on a different run than the 60 and ET).

So I decided to do a much better burnout and launch her at 5000 rpm on my next run.

Well, I left the line at 5000, and It didn't even make it to the 60' mark. The car hooked HARD and bent my TQ arm like a taco about 2" in front of where it mounts to the rear!

I was so dissapointed that I couldn't make any more passes. I really wanted to get into the low 12's. I think it probably would have on that run if it would have made it.

I don't have any pics yet, but hopefully in the next week or two I will. The car is now at my chassis builder getting the full treatment!!

Just thought I would share my experience with you all! Best part of it all is that my buddy that works on the U.S. Army Top Fuel Car brought the team's H2 Hummer up with a trailer to haul it away! I took some pics of the car on the trailer, but it was dark, so I doubt they will turn out.

That's what you get for having one of them man-u-al transmissions.
I have a stock m6 torque arm in my car (A4) and run mid 11s on 1.57-1.68 sixtys.
Time for a good aftermarket one now.

Already working on the suspension. Next time it's out none of it will be stock anymore!

It sucks to have to tow home...

I had a transmission fail last weekend in the final round. Fortunately TCI has come though and all the parts necessary are already enroute to my office.

Also, I still have the stock torque arm.

Well, it will be down for a while. My chassis builder is using my car to develop a line of suspension componets. That and I am moving (got the job you know about!), so I will be leaving it in Indy and moving without it. I hope to have it back out next spring with a whole new setup!

Yeah, it sure does. There was also a guy there that runs in the NMRA with his Mustang, doing some T&T. On his first pass he blew it up-oil and smoke everywhere!

I was going to stop by and talk but I didn't know who you were and some people I've stopped to talk to before seemed kind of annoyed. I'm usually there every Wednesday.

Ahh, don't worry about that. My buddies and I are more than happy to talk cars at anytime!

Damn... sounds like a case of bad luck.

I'm running 10's w/ a stock TA, M6 - 5k launches are the norm... High 1.5 / low 1.6 60's..

Yeah, I've had all the bad luck when it comes to my drivetrain/suspension! Everytime I think I get rid of the weak link, I find another!

I bent and cracked my stock torque arm long ago, without even pulling that great of a 60'.

Replaced it with the MUCH MUCH MUCH nicer Spohn Adjustable torque arm.
