on your time slip it sayd 0-30mph is that your 60ft time and it says 330ft is that your 0-60 time

 

No, the distance times have nothing to do with the speed at which you cross them. They simply measure the time elapsed between the start line and the 60'/330' lines. You will usually get a speed for the 1/8th distance because the track has speed "traps" there.

Your speed is calculated by the amount of time it takes to roll a known distance between to sensors.

 

so how in the world do i find out my 60ft and 0-60 times

 

0-60 is how fast you go. So get in your car start it up on a nice straight road & to to 60MPH with a stop watch. Click it the second you started then stop it when you reach 60.

 

It should say your 60ft on the timeslip.

 

That will work, but when tested a car could go 0-60 in 5 seconds or 7 seconds, depending on the person using the stopwatch.

The only true way to do it is either with a scan tool, like a Diacom, an optical fifth wheel, like the mags use, or the G-Tech. And because the G-Tech is only $140 new, and around $100 used, it by far the best way to go.

more trouble then its worth and the time slip actually did say 60ft time which is 2.3 no 30mph

 

60ft is NOT your zero to sixty miles an hour time, it is the time it took you to travel the first sixty feet of the track, not including reaction time. A timeslip will not show your zero to sixty time, just reaction time, sixty foot, 330 foot, 1/8th mile, and 1/4 mile, along with the speed that you were going at each mark, your trap speed...In order to get a zero to sixty miles per hour time, get a G-Tech, it's the cheapest quasi reliable way to do it.

 

The original G-Tech's are cheap! There was a guy selling a boatload of them for $36 brand new! I'd look for another guy like that, maybe on eBay or something. If you find it, send me the link. I'd get one if they were cheap enough

G-Techs Accelerometers, excellent tuning tool. They say that the mph is 2mph high in the quarter, but mine was SPOT ON when I ran it at the track, compared to my timeslips...

G-tech's measure the true mph as you cross the finish line. A time slip, as mentioned above, does a calculated mph based on the time it takes to break 2 timing lights a measured distance apart. Since you're still accellerating between those 2 points, the mph isn't 100% accurate.

There are web sites out there that can give you calculated 0-60, g force, etc times based on time slip information.

Dyno/Drag 2000 can also give you 0-60 times if you have the proper information inputed for similar ET results. Garbage in/Garbage out.

Without a radar gun wired into the timing system, a drag strip can never know when you hit 60 mph or how far down the track you are when you hit 60 mph.
