Just wondering. I just installed my 4.11's. With the 3.42's I had a very low trap speed but I think i was from shifting into 4th right at the traps and the car not pulling. Hope the 4.11's help.

 

you will like them, they let you cross the traps in 4th around 6200rpm or so! No more shifting to 4th just before the traps And I promise your mph will jump up a couple!

 

I am hitting 4th gear at just after the 1/8 mile mark (stock 3.42"s) I think with 4.10's I would have to shift to fifth

1/8 85.1
1/4 107.8

 

How is that possible? My car traps 105 - 106 and it will bounce off the rev limiter right at the traps, or I can shift into 4th. If you are in 4th well before the 1/4, shouldn't your trap speed be easy 120s? What tire do you run? I usually run 245/50/16s, but I was on 26x8.5 ET Drags on the 13.3 @ 104 in my sig. Do you short shift? I just don't see going to 4th at the 1/8th mile with those times.

 

ba96ta,,, I have 4.10 and still have some rpm's before the end of the 1/4.... Not to mention I'm trapping 3 mph more (4.10's help me out there). What are you shifting at through the gears??? I'm shifting anywhere between 5800-6200 depending on what the car feels like on that particular night/day.

Your gears are not 3.42's if you are shifting to 4th at the 1/8mile...with my 4.10's Iam crossing the traps around 6400rpm at the 1/4 track running 118mph.

 

If he has a stock cam, and is trapping 85 in the 1/8 then yeah, he'll be shifting into 4th pretty quick after that. On a stock cammed LT1 3rd w/ 3.42s takes you to about 90 max at redline.

 

12.6 @ 112.5 on a 2.0 60'. M6 with 3.42 gears. ~65* ambient.

GTP6 cam. Never got to run the car after the dynotune (+20rwhp).

What's the stock rev limit on an LT1??

 

I take my statement back......I thought he was in a M6 LS1 and figured he had the same trans gearing as me???? Iam not sure about the LT1's......this is my first GM....r.i.p. 01 Cobra lol

 

Does changing the cam cause the motor to spin bearings, or was it the head swap that was causing all of the problems? How much for labor?

 

w/ 3.42's and trapping upper 108's i was just shifting to 4th about 100-200ft before the trap's.. 3rd easily take you upto 90+mph w/ 3.42's on a 26" tire..

That was my same case until I swapped in the 4.10's....The car would just start to pull in 4th and I would pass through the traps.
