Spraying 3rd gear.

Anyone ever try spraying just 3rd gear with an auto? I'm wondering if this would be a little easier on the car. An auto usually shifts into 3rd at the 8th mile, (right)? Any idea how much ET a low 12 second car might cut off it's time using a 150 shot by trying this? Thanks in advance for any input or ideas.

So nobody has started off by just spraying 3rd gear with an auto? Come on guys, at least make a guess. I'm feeling neglected here.

Re: Spraying 3rd gear.

Mine usually shifts into 3rd right before the line at the end of the 1/4. I have only sprayed a couple of times at the track, and I like to spray right when it shifts into 2nd through the end of the track. I picked up .6 and 5 mph in the 1/4 on a 100 shot.
