These are for a fairly stock 2005 GTO. I will be using M/T ET Streeet Drag Radials in one of the two sizes 235/60/15 or 255/50/16.
Do you think the 235 is enough tire to hook up at the track. These are going to be track only wheels.

Id go w/the 255/50/16 as the smaller one just doesn,t have enough width.I use the MT ET Street Radial 255/50/16 on my 94Z.My 60ft are lacking but that is due to driver,not the tires

Any power mods?
Any suspension mods?

All of these are relevant to tire choice.

 

It is pretty much stock except for the exhaust. Its an A4 with all stock suspension too.

 

IMO if your going to keep it stock the 235-60/15 will work better. The car will hook and the smaller tire will require less hp down the track resulting in a quicker ET and more MPH. If you plan to mod the car the go with the larger 255-50/16.

 

Stock with an auto the 255s would be my choice and you won't have as much problem with the fitment over the brakes.

 

I'd stick with the 255's so you can either put'em on a stock set of rims. That way if you want to drive around town on the DR's, you don't have 2 different sets of rims on the car

I don't know how different it would be with an IRS car, but the 255/50/16's hook great for my car. These tires still wrinkle pretty good and on a 75 shot and they hook great for 1.46 60's on a stock suspension.

 

I've gone 1.59 to the 60ft on the 255/50/16 MTs. Car has bone stock 168k mile suspension.

 

Well I ended up going with the 235's on stock 15x7 BMW wheels. No problem with fitting over the rear brakes and so far only took them for a quick spin on the street. Seemed to hook pretty good compared to the street tires. Hopefully will be getting to the track this weekend to try them out.
