RPM @ Max HP
What RPM should my car in my sig be making max HP and what would be a good point to shift at?......here in the next few weeks I'm gonna borrow a set of slicks and see what I can do..........thanks

I am guessing max power is going to be made at 5100-5250 RPM's. I would shift at 5300-5400.
Really the thing that will change your RPM range is going to be a cam, the stuff you have already is great for supporting a cam, but doesn't expand the top end as much as it prevents it from dropping off as quick.

I agree with this.
But I don't agree with this. Run it right up to 5700 or whatever the stock redline is. If you get a tune, your upgraded springs, rockers, and lifters probably give you room to go even a little higher.
To know for sure, get a dyno graph. If power falls off drastically after the peak, then I'd recommend shifting earlier. But if it just falls off slowly, keep going. The gearing advantage you get from waiting far outweighs the slight decrease in power.

alright I'll give it a try.....this was going to be my street/strip car and it was going to get a cam,N20 and a few other things but I just got a 71' Chevelle so all my funding has been turned to that........We have a 79' Camaro going to the track within the next few weeks to do a little test and tune and I figured I'd play around a little with my car.

Exactly! Play with it a little and check your numbers, there is nothing worse than making a premature shift when you still had plenty of room left in your powerband. Congrats on the win by the way!!!

Well actually I spent the entire night working on my 60fts which was a horrible 2.2-2.4.....I have a set of big heavy ugly 18" DUBS on it with a 245/40 tire and no matter what I do it wouldn't hook, I want to get a set of summit stars on it to make it look better and so I can get some drag radials......I made 7 passes and 5 of them were 14.0's......I know it'll dip in the 13's easy with a good set of tires......my goal last night was to break into the 13's but the best I could do was a 14.009 on a 14.00 dial-in...... I don't know if I should be happy or mad about that....but on the bright side I did send 2 Fox body mustangs and a mid 90's mustang home.........I shifted at 5700 but I did push it a little past once and it seemed to pick up so I'll try 5800-5900 next time..........I had a ton of fun running my slow 14.0 passes so I can't wait til I get my chevelle done....it'll be a blast

yes 60fts are horrible....it will not hook up, that slip was one of the better 60's......I want to get a lighter rim and a set of drag radials....actually the only reason i went was because we were taking a 79' Camaro down that was just built and I figured if i was gonna be down there I might as well have a little fun.....Now im glad I did
