In completely stock trim except for 4.10's you might hit the rev limiter in 3rd on a basically stock LT1. Sound to me like there is something else wrong though. You have an SES for converter problem. I would start there, you may have a trans/converter problem to begin with.

If the trans and converter are ok, then it just sounds like you have too much gear for your combo. There has been alot of good info in this thread.

I run 4.10's and 27" Hoosiers. I shift at 6200 and cross the line at 6300 @ 111-112mph.
