anyone verify the LS1 plastic tank weight is less than steel tank??

after reading in the weight mod list I decided to do a LS1 plastic tank in my LT1 car. Soon did I find out how much of a headache it is.

Well long story short, the 18lbs claimed on this site seems a little far fetched. I'm not sure if that's accurate or even close. I still have a little gas in my tanks (very little) and they seem almost identical. the plastic tank is more heavy than you'd think.

The only thing I can see is the vent release is on the ls1 tank and the LT1 car it is apart and I haven't taken that out to wiegh it. If that thing is heavy then MABEY.

can anyone verify or even support a number of wieght savings thats even close to 18lbs?

The differance is about $150 for the pump wiring, weather I go ls1 or lt1.

thanks
