Newbie tire/rim questions..

Awhile back if I remember right there I heard of us f-body guys having some trouble bolting on 15 inch rims. I think it was because of the calipers. A few weeks ago I thought I remembered someone saying that a company just came out with 15 inch rims that were a direct bolt-on without any fitting issues. Is this true and can someone give me a link as to where I can fins them? Also, what it the widest tire I can fit on a 15 inch rim without any problems and does wider always mean better traction?

The Weld 15's require grinding the fins off the rear calipers, and longer studs. Fronts require a 5/16" spacer, longer studs. That's all. Someone who posts regularly on the "LT1 Tech" board talked Bogart into making 15" wheels that fit both front and rear of the 4th Gens with no modifications, no grinding, no spacers, and apparently use acorn type lugs so you don't need longer studs. Do a search on the LT1 Tech board for "Bogart". Its been covered in at least two posts in the last month.

As far as width, the largest width depends on the tire diameter and rim width. A 10" wide rim (7.5" backspace) will allow you to use tires as wide as 28x13.5 in ET Streets, for example (some 3# hammer work required ). You need to look at the specific size tire you might want to run, and the specific manufacturer, to find what they recommend as the acceptable range of rim widths.
