Newb question about burnouts.
Newb question about burnouts.
This is my first manual car, i'm used to just being able to floor the brake and the gas and pull off a burnout..
But how is it done in a manual?
I've read the "press the clutch all the way in, switch to 1st gear, rev up to about 4k rpms, released the clutch quickly and grab the brake"
Would you guys say this is the best way to do it? I haven't tried it yet until i confirm that best way, so i dont mess anything up.

Re: Newb question about burnouts.
Yeah, dump the clutch and hit the brake. You'll get better the more you practice, but be careful. Might just be worth it to get a line lock kit. Press the brake, push the button, let off the brake. Front wheels are locked and you can do your burnout. When you are done push the lock button again to release the front brakes and roll out of your burnout.
Re: Newb question about burnouts.
Line lock button should always be a momentary switch so when you release the switch, it releases the line lock. If you accidently had the switch on and stepped on the brakes while driving, the front brakes wouldn't release when you take your foot off the pedel.
Re: Newb question about burnouts.
Yeah, line lock should only be able to "lock" when the button is being pushed. Release button, brakes release.
To do a burn-out (I actually haven't even tried this yet with my new 6-speed setup
) you can try the "heel-toe" method, by holding the brake with your heel and working the gas with your toes. If you've got a wide enough foot, you can "side step" both pedals (same effect).
