Some new best and 10s NA ..will it hapen. a bitter sweet story
Well went to NPR tonight. set a few new best bit I was going for a 10 sec. pass with a NA 6 speed 355.
60' - 1.49(new personal best)
1/8th mile - 7.01 (new personal best....under distress..read below)
I tried a new thing...I decided to shed weight as I was going down the track. I prolly need to rethink which peices I shed though. I have a nice banged up driveshaft and a slip yoke broke in two. I think I cracked the yoke on the launch and nearing the top of 3rd it let go. Drive shaft loop did its job...it banged a couple times and ejected out the back of the car. I looked under the car today and the Pass rear seat indention and the indention behind that one are now two HUGE dents. I'm lucky it didn't get into my slicks and cause a possable blowout at 100mph.
Cool thing is I still set a new best 8th et coasting through the 1/8 mile timing lights.. After I went through my driveshaft took out the 1/8 timing lights so it must have been out a good bit before to get that far over. My mph was 3+ mph slower than previous best 8th et.
Oh well...all is well. Hopefully that is all that is messed up and I will get a dennys nitrous shaft on the way.
on...funny little thing. Coasting from before the 1./8 mile mark the 1/4 et was 11.88 at 79.99 mph. The car was on a 10 sec. pass. Even coasting I beat my 11.03 pass 1/8 mile time by .05
I think someone doesn't want my little NA 355 to go 10s...
I know the car can sneak into the 10s now..just have to get it to make a full pass.

Cenman..I see about 6600-6700 at 123-124. I launched friday night at 5000 just bumping the two step. Then floring it when I came off the clutch...I shift at 6900-7000
Rich..yea..I WAS using the stock one. The next one won't be.
Ken..Iknow man. But the more I think about it the more I get depressed. I've been fighting to break the 10s for so long..and I had it...

i'm building an alcahol small block 355 now and i was wondering what is your compression ratio? and what are your cam specs? i have a 14.6:1 witha 643 inch lift roller brodix 2.10 1.65 headed 355 with a 300 shot juice and i want to know what mine will run compared. w/o nitrous though. mine is an auto and tubbed. is your car tubbed? and how much do you weigh? sorry for all of the questions i am just excited to see what mine will run (4200 ft elevation) i havn't had a chance to run the new motor yet, our track here in utah closed a couple months ago and plus my new motor isn't completely 100% done yet. just need all of the MSD stuff and a fluidampener and an oil pan.
Dave, I'm running a 12:1 CR, lt1 heads with 2.0/1.57 valves. My cam is a cam motion solid roller 255/263 @50 with 657/628 lift with 1.52 rockers. Car weight during the last run was in the 3490 range. The car is not tubed and I run a 15x8" rim with 28x10.5 et drags. The DA this weekend during the run was around -1200 to -1300. It got down to -1700 be the end of the night but my car was on the trailer
. All runs posted by me are NA runs and with pump gas or pump gas with some zylene in it. My 11.03 was in +200 DA with race weight at 3510. You can see the full details on my car if you go to the web site in my sig ..then go to the 95 Formula page.
Good luck with your project. Sounds like its gonna be a screamer.

sweet ride dude! i like your car. thanks for the info. have you done anything to lighten your car? i don't have a clue about 4th gens on what they weigh and stuff. i'm guessing all of the after market suspension stuff is lighter then stock but i thought they were heavier then that. cool, nice car
My car has been lightened. Also has a 6 point cage and a 9" that add weight back to it. My pete Z suspension also added weight. I took the ac off(wasn't working anyway), bumper supports, back seat, spare/jack. Relocated the battery to the rear and run 15" skinnies/slicks. When my car was stock with 17" SS rims with no back seat/jack the car weighted in at 3420 without me in it. The tires rims saved me 80 lbs rotatin weight over that setup.

Awesome car................
I noticed on your web page that it says "locker". Did you originally run one in the car and what was it like driving on the street?
Also, do you drive the car much on the street with the spool and how is it?
Thanks!
Mike

The locker was fine. Just took some getting use too. I just put the spool in but haven't driven it on the street. From driving around at the track it seems fine turning at speed..but if you turn sharp going slow its like putting the brakes on.
Thanks

Thanks
