I wouldnt ever do that in an auto. Some people just leave off idle and have good times. I like to footbrake it until 1500 rpm or so then launch. Just push the brake down firmly and press on the gas to bring your rpms up. Dont go to far and break the rear tires loose. You will have to play with it a little until you know how far you can go without breaking your tires loose or rolling through the light.

If you neutral drop the tranny, you'll be buying a new tranny real soon. It's not a manual transmission. It doesn't work the same way. If you want to launch at a higher rpm, get a higher stall converter but a "stock" engine doesn't need a converter with a very high stall speed.

Launch at an idle or load up the driveline by holding the brakes and bringing the rpms up enough so that the tires don't break free. Normally you'll find doing this either way will give the same results with a stock car.

Powerbraking it is always better it tend to give you that little jolt in the beginning to get you going. but if you have stock tires it may just help burn em up.

Just neutral drop it off the rev limiter on a 250 shot, with 30" ET drags out back and let me know what happens.

Oh yeah umm...you'll want to just stall it up a little, go about 1/2 throttle and then gun it when you get traction. If you're dead hooking on drag radials, just stall it up and smash the gas.

unless you really care about your 60' times, you might want to practice launching from idle first, and then footbreak after you are used to it. i still launch from idle. my car is nothing to write home about, cutting 2.0 60's but 11.9-12.1 1/4 @ 118. running stock stall.

If your rear brakes worked better then maybe you could stall higher. It's not just about the tires.

I like to launch off idle...i seem to get going quicker that way than i do footbreaking, but i havent had it to the track yet so i dont have 60' times to actually compare.

Once you get it tuned you should actually being leaving JUST AS the last yellow light flickers, but since you more less have a stock set-up and street tires-if your shallow staging you could probably almost leave on the 2nd yellow REgardless if you actually see the green light.....your waaaay late buddy lotts stuff has to happen in .5 of a second between your actual reaction time to your cars vehicle reaction time...hence the leaving on last yellow rule.
