First 1/4 mile pass in a 6 spd... results..

i feel horrible about this pass, short shifted 2nd and third and spun horribly off the line... but anyways heres the horrid numbers that make me wanna cry after all ive spent lol. (also my first time ever at a 1/4 track)

R/T -- 0.819
60' -- 2.460
330 -- 6.352
1/8 -- 9.522
1/8mph --- 78.15
1000 -- 12.258
1/4 -- 14.555
1/4 mph -- 98.13

now lemme explain why i feel thats absolutely horrible for me.. when the car was an auto at the 1/8 mile track i woudl run somethin along these lines

R/T -- 0.6xx
60' -- 2.1xx
330 -- 5.6xx
1/8 -- anywhere from 8.7-9.1 depending on how bad it spun into 2nd..
mph -- ~78
this was before the 6spd headers and new engine..

someone wanna make me feel better about that 1/4 time? (granted this was in the dead heat of summer and those other times were in october.. also elevation may have beena factor as this track was 300 miles away)

Well you really need to practice launching because a 2.46 60' is terrible. So if you can get your 60' down and have better shifts, you'll definitely see a lot better times. Running in 90 degree weather is also going to kill your times and your trap speed. If you go run at the track in october again, you'll definitely see a nice gain in atleast the trapspeed.

You definitely can use some improvement in getting off the line, but there is nothing wrong with that. Keep practicing.

I had a similar 60' my first time at the track..."cough"2.5"cough". Your trap speed is a little low though, but that is probably from short shifting.

Just takes practice.

yeah i figured that short shift at 5 grand probly hurt my mph,but i duno how all this stuff works, im use to a full breakdown on the 1/8th mile, just gotta get use to clutching and feathering off the line that first gear is a booger in these 6 speed cars lol. plannin on goin to the local 1/8th mile track every weekend for awhile to work on my launches after seein that time.. and this was with VERY good track prep mind you, cause when it finally did grab it grabbed like no tomorrow lol.

Learn to launch and powershift. If you're using the stock tach to shift, you're gonna always be off. Get an aftermarket tach or at least an adjustable shift light.

Invest in a pair of DR's, keep practicing, you'll get it.....and I don't even bother going out to the track if it's warm and muggy anymore.
