LS1 swap 1st pass

loaded up the 97Z with the LS1 swap in it. Just to see what it would do, no real tuning has been done, just enough to get it down the road so far.

Unload, first pass, runs like POOP, MAF is all messed up but did run 8.4@64MPH. Not bad when I was hoping it would get close to the 7s.

Pull into the pits and turn everything dealing with the MAF off to be in speed density, un plug MAF and go line up. and rips a 7.51 @ 90 w/1.592

But from there it was :hsugh:
car would run from the 8.2s to 7.8s and MPH was way down. I think the fuel pump is going out. And it needs alot of tuning!!!

FYI on car now:
97 Z28 chassis stripped!
stock LS1 with Pacesetters/Y-pipe/Hooker areochamber in stock location, LS6 intake, Stock P&P TB, 4.10 in 10bolt and Level 4 A4. Suspension is R series fronts w/275# springs, 12ways on the rear, Spohn TA and Drag Bar. Herron Performance LCA/PHR. Stock K-member and A-arms. Telstars with OLD BFR DRs. Car is in the 3200# range with me in it (guesstimate based on what it weighed with the LT1/12bolt and knowing what all things weigh that were removed and put back in).
Shock settings were all the way tight on front and 6's on the rear.

Next plan is to replace the fuel pump with a racetronix kit and see how it runs. Then get the WB out and start working on a SDOL tune.
I think the suspension is OK as is since it was hooking on the slick track with old BFG DRs.

Good job, I bet your glad to be back out racing again. Why did you switch from the 4.33's? We've been messing with a stock-ish LS1 car and thats the gear we are using with really good results (28" tire).

10bolt and 4.10 on 26" tire. I do not need a huge rear in this A4 car, and it's lighter!!

It was fun and it will get better when I get the fuel pump replaced and more tuning. Heck, those runs correct down to 7.3s, we were almost 2700'DA TH night.
