Launching a non-posi car
I have a buddy who was pulling high 1.6 to low 1.7 60's on an open rear w/ 275/60/15 BFG DR's.
If I recall right, he was doing his inital smokey burnout, followed by 3-4 almost dry hops; basically, getting the car to get the other tire to spin instead. His whole goal was to get one tire to spin, then the other, then the other, etc.
Mind you, this was on an 83Z with stock 3.73's, budget built solid roller 355 shifting at 8000, with a manual valve body TH-350 running upper 11's, skinnies, stock front suspension and minor rear suspension mods. Worked for him, though he is also a pretty good driver.
(he is now running a 12-bolt and QTP's)

how to get one wheel drive to launch
Get and airbag in the passenger rear coil spring. Add air and try to spin the tires. When you pre-load the pass rear enough to equalize pressure when you launch, you will spin both tires equally. This is how they did it before posi's were common.
