How was everyone's season?

For me, I missed the first four points races at my local track due to the passing of my Mom two days before the start of the season, and then visiting elderly relatives the weekend after so I just parked the car with ine exception. I did run the Amalie IHRA North American Nationals and although I did not do well, (went out in round 3), I did ok considering I had a car fire due to the alternator wire rubbing raw under the carpet and only having two time trials. I also had a wonderful opportunity to announce my wife as being in charge of Katrina relief efforts for our Rotary District (newsletter is here: http://www.rotary7780.org/IMupload/n...newsletter.pdf ), and had a heads up race against another regional racer which took place during final eliminations on Sunday and pics were posted in the IHRA site.

Otherwise I am continuing the search for a major sponsor and plan on returning in style next season with hopefully a more diverse schedule that will include travel to other areas of the country.

I'd like to hear from everybody how they did this year, whether you made your first trip to the track ever or won the nationals.

Re: How was everyone's season?

Well, first time in several years that the same engine held in the car. I had major overheating issues in the summer months. Finally got that resolved. Tried the 12.0 index heads up racing. Yea I'm hooked. In a round about way made it to the Division 1 finals. Had a blast there. Lost in the 3 round but did better than expected (very lucky). Lost in a final round at Raceway Park but got my name in National Dragster. Got 5 more weekends to play. I really learned a lot this year and got some major seat time in the hot humid summer months. I'm really looking forward to next season. I may put a box in and run super pro (12.0 car will drive the dragsters nuts).

Have to add best time besides the Div1 race : In a test and tune I went against a 550hp supercharged Mustang and beat him by 2 car lengths with a 362 hp lt1 Guy had the dyno sheets and musta popped the hood a dozen times in the staging lanes.

Re: How was everyone's season?

i started the season out with a buttload of problems to figure out. some were small, some really needed attention. last years best was 12.8 @110 the first thing i went about doing was the delteq because i had a burnt plug wire. then i had to put some new fan motors in an fixed the driver side window motor. thats all i really changed when i went to the track the next time and ran a 12.7 @110. i still felt like i didnt have the power that i should. i never got the car tuned since the supercharger install so that was the next thing i got going on, and that made the bigest difference. i bought tuner cat and did a lot of changing things, driving it, then changing again. i bumped my timing up 2 degrees and took the max timing retard down from 7 to 2. then i leaned out my fuel a little bit and the car felt massivly stronger. i just went to the track a couple days ago. it was a perfect night, nice and cool, probably around 55. my first run of the night was my best... 12.1@116!!! i really need to get more airflow to the intercooler though, i am seeing temps in the 100+ range and i know that cant be good. also my 42# injectors are at 20 ms PW

mods are:

ati procharger 8# boost, obd I conversion, 42 lb svo injector, bbk throttle body, bbk shorty headers, borla catback, delteq

Re: How was everyone's season?

Well, I got a new car to go bracket racing with and had a ball. The Camaro has been retired from the track - 145mph traps seem too fast without a full cage, race seat, etc. and that would ruin it as a street car, IMO. Also, the automatic sucked on the street, so a T56 is going back in.

Next year I am going to get serious about bracket racing. The car is very consistent and quick enough (9.40) to be entertaining. I am going to install a nitrous system and also do some match/grudge racing with it.

Re: How was everyone's season?

I hit the track for the first time ever, and pulled a 12.07 @ 114 in some nasty weather. I am going to try to make it once more this year, because the car has alot more in it due to both weather and my inexperience in driving on the track.

Re: How was everyone's season?

Still have a little left in the season here...Went 11.90s at 117 last year in cool air with BFG DRs and front skinnies on a 10 year old combo...Decided to pull it and freshen the top end with a new small Joe O. cam (small, but still bigger than the LPE I took out) and E.B. Porting going thru my LPE heads. Put it all back together and added a Strange 12 bolt with 3.73 gears. Put 16x8s all around 255 50 16 MT DRs in the rear and Pirellis up front. Went 11.90s at 115 in 90 deg heat. So far I'm excited because my old combo would never have seen 11s in that kind of weather and w/o skinnies up front.

The car looks bone stock and I'm hoping for 11.50s at 118-119 in full sleeper trim...Which we would find out tomorrow night if it wasn't going to RAIN!!
