How was everyone's season?

I know that mine could have been better. Several points races were rained out. On day one I had lifter problems and barely make the first round.

During the course of the season there were six event out of 13 that actually went off as as scheduled, that I wasin borrowed or rental cars.

I ended up replacing coil, opti, alternator, battery, lifters (twice), pushrods, tranny cooler (after blown line)... The end of the season I was chasing a floating ground problem. The final failure was the opti which crapped out on the way to Ohio for the bracket finals which forced me to not attend the event.

I ended up in second place for the year in Street (out of 42 competitors), 2 1/2 rounds out of first.

I ended up in 17th place in Modified (5 rounds out of the top ten), out of 146 competitors.

So, I have had better years. My places were earned by going rounds, not by event wins, which is not typical of my historical record.

However, Mickey Thompson has signed on as an associate sponsor for next season and we have a couple of other leads for the main sponsor at this point.

How did everyone else do?

Didn't really do any racing, just some TnT. Got out very late. I did have one nice match ace though, against a big block Nova. Caught him at the big end! It was fun

I really like heads up racing, which is why I don't do much racing. There is a local Mustang series that has a nice heads up format where they pair the cars that that are closest in qualifying and have a 0.2sec breakout rule. Not to much sandbagging going on, from what I can tell. Though if there were, two could always pya that game, with the breakout rule keeping it from getting out of hand anyway. I am seriously considering buying/building a car to race in that series.

Too bad there is nothing comparable for Chevy's around here. If I had time, I'd try to organize it.

For my personal car, I didn't even have a season. I never did get it to the track this year. I broke the rear end in April, and it is still sitting as we speak. Now that I am home for the rest of the year I ordered a 12 bolt for it. My first season on the NHRA circuit could have been better, but I'm happy with everything I learned out there. Hope to have a MUCH better season next year, with BOTH cars!!

Well, I had a good start to the year, but then a bit of a "hiccup" that set me back and limited me for the rest of the year.

Compared to last year when my car only ran 14.0 - 14.1 @ 100 - 101 mph (yeah, I was pi$$ed), I was really happy when I ran 13.4 @ 106 on my first night out this year! Once I saw that I was into the 13's, I got greedy and tried for 12's (installed 3.73's) but they whined extremely bad, and even when I went to the track, I didn't run any faster (*correction*: .003 seconds faster ) but was actually running 1 - 2 mph slower? So I got tired of the whining gears, and put the factory 2.73's back. The car still runs 13.5's / 13.6's consistantly, so I'm happy.

NEXT YEAR though (since I'll be able to afford to) I want to get a little more serious, and I really want to hit 12's. I'm probably going to invest in a pair of E/T Streets, and I'm thinking of adding LT headers (for a 20 - 30 rwhp gain). I'm also toying with the notion of getting a 2nd differential just for the track, and putting 4.10's into it. With more power + good traction + 4.10's, I think 12's will be a walk in the park! *Wish me luck*, and I hope everyone else had good luck this year and gets where they want to be next season.

Another crappy season of breakage. This year I went through an Opti, two ring & pinions, and now the output shaft on the T56 is broke. I finally got fed up and bought a 23T altered to run Super-Pro in. I dedided that I need to be able to go more than two weeks with out beaking somthing. I was also getting tired of spending the weeks working on the car just to run low 11's.

It looks like next year the Z will see mostly street duty with some test and tune mixed in. I still need to get that 10 on the motor and 9's on the spray

6th in points this year. at my home track.
Did not go to a final round at all, had numerous 1/4 final rounds.
And only bought back in twice thoughout the year.

Raced a SuperTen series race (1/8 mile racing) and won both days.

Raced some 12.0 Index racing (4 races), won one, took a 1/4 round in another and went out early in the others.

Car worked out great the whole year, it really did not have any problems at all.

I spent all of this season getting ready for next season.

Did see some great racing though. North/South Shootout, a couple NMCA races and Thunder Shootout.

Got a new PB. 13.009@ 103.44. I'm hoping to crack the 12's in a couple weeks. If I can do it, it will be a GREAT season for me.

Installed 9" once season had started and other various parts[adj Sway bar/Tq Arm/Poly LCAs]over the next 6 weeks.

Took too long to fine tune and get used to new set up.

Once I got car settled[late July] with the distance the leaders had put on me in the Sportsman class never could catch up.

Ended up finishing in 4th place and not winning a program for the first time since 1996 !!!

NO CHANGES for next season!!!

I did neglect to mention on high point. The car ran a best ever 10.22 @ 140.4mph. Which isn't too shbby for a full weight car with full emissions equipment

Well I had enough win lights to make me happy but not satisfied. Ran at the local track as well as running super street at 3 Div 1 races. With the addition of a SLP ultra Z hood I gained some consistancy in the later rounds and with some tuning help was able to reset my best ET's several times. The good news was the car ran without a hiccup all season.

well this season was a blast for me. i finally retired my little ole 305 and bought a scott shafiroff 434sb. dayum is this thing fun i'm still t/n/t and hope to still make a few more visits to the track this year. i'm still dialing the car in. very first pass was 10.89 and after 3 more trips to the track 10.54 so the motor is breaking in nicely. can't wait for next season i'll be ready from the start. i just got back out to the track in the end of oct.
