Horrible ET!!!

The best I can figure, my problem is traction.
14.4 @ 108.2mph
The trap speed tells me I have plenty of pull, but the ET sucks!!
I gotta try different launch techniques. I've tried everything to control wheelspin. Speed shifting the entire run.
I know what you're thinking: "Quit your b*&^%*in until you get some slicks", but any other ideas would be great.
Thanks

Re: Horrible ET!!!

Your 60' will tell you everything about your lack of traction. 108 mph is cookin pretty good. My old 72 Chevelle used to run 12.20-40s at 108...I forgot to look at your sig, but suspension mods are a good investment as well as some M/T DRs...oops just went back to your sig...If you are racing on those 18s then theres your problem...Try 16x8s with the 255 M/T DRs and you'll be driving a whole different car...post your time slip I bet you're spinning thru the 60' and 330'...reaction time means nothing about ET...

You can have 500 hp and you won't run 12's if you can't get the power to the ground.

Forget the bling and get some slicks. Nobody cares what the rear wheels look like at the track.

Re: Horrible ET!!!

go on ebay to get some wheels. you can get a set of 4 ZR1 replicas 17x19.5 for like 400 bucks. although i heard smaller wheel diameter is better for the track but you probably can get some descent looking ones to put stickies on.

Re: Horrible ET!!!

You might try looking to a company like siphon for your suspension stuff. Thats what I ran on my 87 and I was turning 12.20's at 109 fairly regularly. But that was also on slicks.

Re: Horrible ET!!!

it may be more then just wheel spin. how old is your clutch? you might be getting some slippage and not even realizing it. your ET is way slow for the mph even with a bad launch. you mph seems a bit low to for your mods too. I am not sure what altitude you are at but assuming that blower is making 7-8psi of boost you should be good for at least 112mph traps

Re: Horrible ET!!!

108 should be at least 13.1 ... thats what my stock Z28 ran with a dry 100 shot

Re: Horrible ET!!!

18" rims with low profile tires ? thats the main problem
get 2 stock 16" wheels (they are usually cheap) and two nittos and you'll see quite a difference

meanwhile the only thing I can suggest is to stay away from clutch dumps and try to launch gently

Re: Horrible ET!!!

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'll post my slip after I borrow a set of slicks from a buddy of mine.

Re: Horrible ET!!!

A slip is a good thing. I was easily into the lower 12's at 108. At 109 I was hitting 11's. A whole lot of ET has to do with configuration but you have the hp to easily be a very solid 12 second performer.
