Help please...
Help please...
Dynoed 302rwhp and 304lbs of torque. Only mods are the valvetrain and a catback... oh yea, some nitto 555r's. No headers.
I was at a oil filled track, but i'm scared it was just me. I was throwing 2.2 60ft's and trapping about 102-103.75's all day (7 passes)
little scared that this car isn't going to hit its low 13's like I hoped. Best it ran was a 13.8. How would you launch this car? 6 speed... please give me some suggestions!! Because that time pissed me off!!

Re: Help please...
What gears do you have? I ran a 13.3 @ 102 mph in my LT1 and it was an auto.with 3.23 gears. I also ran a 13.3 @ 106 mph in my Mach 1 (5 speed) with 3.55 gears. Notice the Trap speed difference? Gears my man.
Re: Help please...
At 102-103 in good air you should easily be below 13.5's.
They key is the launch and shifting. MPH be about horsepower but ET has everything to do with launching and shifting.
Sounds like either the track was very poorly prepped, or you need more time with the car to work on your launch technique, or a combination of both.
If your 2.2 sixty foot time was a 1.9 sixty foot time, you can drop your ET by .3 at a minumum, and perhaps by as much as .45 and that would put you where your expectations are thinking you should be...

Re: Help please...
I bracket raced my '96 M6 Formula so I have a little experience. The times seem about right for your combo. A stick shift car will give more mph than expected. About the only advantage of bracket racing a stick. The 60' is critical for your ET. A drop to a 2.0 60' should give you 13.50s. With the stock 3.42 gears and 26" diameter rear tires you should be able to shift at 6,000rpm and cross the line in 3rd. If you go to 4.11's the car will be even harder to launch and will require a shift into 4th at the end of the track. It just takes practice in launching and shifting. With drag radials and a 4.11 12 bolt I would dump the clutch at 3800 then feather the gas as the nose dropped. 3500 rpm launch would bog, 4000 would spin. When I first started I was running 14.20's. The times dropped as I got better at launching and shifting. If you were a Englishtown try another track like ATCO or Cecil. Both these tracks hook better. Cecil is about .1-.2 faster on average. I picked up .5 when I went to long tube headers. Just keep at it. Your time will get better.
