Going to Track Today NEED TIPS
I am planning on going tonite to Englishtown, supposed to be low 70's high 60's. I will arrive with around 1/4 tank of gas, the question is stock tires, do I let any air out of them? Do I just roll up the line and go or should I burn out first?
DO NOT burn your street tires. theyll get oily. how big are they? what i like to do if im using street tires is drive around the water box and chirp the tires once on the way to the line to clean off any dirt. let some air out and if it is an m6, launch easy. i did a 2500 drop on 235/55/16s one time and ran a high 15. i like to almost stall the car out of the gate then mash the gas and not powershift but gas a little bit in the 1-2. also run ALL THE WAY through the 2nd finish timer. cut your car off if there is a wait in the line, try to keep it as cool as possible. and have fun!
If you do not get all the water off your tires, you will spin. And spin. And spin. The VHT they use to prep the track is slippier than concrete when wet, but when dry, it's very sticky.
There's nothing wrong with doing a mild burnout. In fact, I'll bet you your best times will come when you just roll straight though the water and smoke the tires enough to dry them off.

you will look like an amateur if you roll through the water with street tires - and you'll likely **** a lot of people off. Street tires will drag the water up to the line and make it slippery and dangerous for the guy following you. Drive around the box, do a short burnout or maybe just a dry hop (not sure on that one) and let her go. Best launch technique I have heard is get the RPM's up there, but feather the clutch to avoid burning the tires off...unfortunately you burn the clutch off instead
