G-Tech results confuse me. Long

I don't understand the results I got on my 98 SS with the G-Tech pro. I did 4 runs and there was a slight downhill grade, but as level as I could find on the street. At one location yesterday I did a run it showed 13.989 @ 81.34 mph but I must have let off before I was through the 1/4 because I was doing 85.06 at the 1/8. It showed 280.8 hp @4909 rpm and 310.1 tq @4645 rpm. Today at the same spot I shut down early, turn ahead, same reason as yesterday. The lights were confusing me. I saw the flashing but must have been the shift light. This run It showed better performance all the way up till I didn't finish the 1/4 and 292.2 hp @ 5276 rpm and 305.1 tq @ 4605 rpm. I did let some air out of the tires from 40 to 25 today.

The second location yesterday I did a 14.121 @ 105.53 mph. It showed 270.7 hp @ 4896 rpm, and 301 tq @4280 rpm. Today it was 13.354 @ 108.33 mph. 264.7 hp at 5309 rpm. and 285.7 tq at 4619 rpm.

Basically I am asking why my best run 1/4 mile times had the lowest hp rating.

Re: G-Tech results confuse me. Long

There are way too many variables to get consistent results (weight of car, tire slippage, RPM signal recognization, etc.)

I had to return my G-tech. The results were very inconsistent. I set it up on three of my cars, and could never get repeatable results (even at the track). The mph's would never match the speedometer. Most of the time they were 8-10 mph off in either direction. Even on my stock Ford Taurus they were 5-7 mph off.

It's fun to play with, but nothing beats the timers at the track or a dyno.

It was way more fun on my 77 Trans Am when the speedometer was broken. Till I took it to the track and got a dose of reality.

I couldn't even get it to recognize the RPMs on my 94 Camaro. Seems to work much better on a car with a traditional distributor.

It is a good tool to use to see if your getting tire spin or to see if adjusting shift points helps your ET. But don't try to correlate your ETs with an actual track.
