Post Driveshaft safety loop question

At what 1/4 mile time (if any) do you need a DS saftyloop and does it have to be approved, or can you use a home built one?

13.99 with slicks,or 12.99 with any tire.
There is a minimun thickness the loop has to be,just not sure what the spec is.

Cool, thanks, I guess I better get one done. Anyone know the thickness. They are pretty slack where I race. I have run a 12.4 on street tires and no-one has said anything to me.

360-degrees of enclosure. 1/4-inch minimum thickness, 2-inches wide.... or 7/8" x 0.065" welded steel tubing. Securely mounted and located within 6-inches of the front universal joint.

Just FYI. The Jegs 82-up Camaro/firebird loop fits very well(even with aftermarket torque-arm and exhaust), and is pretty cheap(~$50).
