Weight removal, synthetic oil, driver practice, front sway bar removal, cold air induction and headers (better fuel economy too if you keep your foot out of it).

This is sensible advice. The only thing I would add is that a re-stalled stock converter may be just as big a bang for the buck as nitrous. You can expect three tenths reduction by going to a 2800-3000 stall. You can probably cut another two tenths with sticky tires then, too.

Do it right if you get a converter. Don't mess with the re-stalled stockers.

Money is tight however and a higher stall converter should have a tranny cooler and a lockup switch also installed since the car will want to live on the street.

As part of whatever you do, spend a few bucks and get a driveshaft loop regardless of mods. They can be purchased for short money and can really save your butt.

Also the car is 1993 vintage so it probably has some miles on it... I think i would wait and do a performance rebuild of the tranny and converter at the same time when more funds are available. A converter is a good bang for the buck mod but I just think limited funds and a daily driver may be better off waiting so the transmission can be beefed up at the same time the converter is changed.

Anything can happen at any time on the track and my guess is avoiding mods that will force a chip upgrade (like gears) might also not be the best starting point. This is just my opinion and we all have them I just want to bring it all up so this fellow can make decisions he is comfortable with.
