Can wind effect ET this much?

I was at the track this weekend (arkcity Ks) and we had nice weather except for the wind, the high hit 80 and the humidity was 60% with 29. something baro, the problem was a head on 35 mph wind. My first run was a 12.55 @ 109mph and I didnt think much about it except for the mph. My next run was a 12.62 @ 109.7 mph . these runs were about 3 tenths and 3 to 3.5 mph slower than I normally run in same temperature weather. My good freind was also there in his New R/A T/A that was totally stock and runs 13.4a normally, he ran a 14.00!!! Can wind effect ET this much?

I sure could imagine. Being a pilot you would be really surprised how much even 15kts slows your ground speed down. Say i have a headwind at 15 kts. My true airspeed reads 125kts but my actual grounds speed could be lower than 100kts. Heck, in a 35kt headwind i got a warrior to hit 13kt ground speed while mainting straight and level flight if

I'm in aviation too, and can vouch. Wind will definitely make a difference.
