Take the high stall! a smaller tire and or rim can do the same as a diff gear change at the track and not have you driving around at 4000 rpm on the motorway all week. my favourite converter was a 10" 3500 which performed well on the street, it would pull away from lights at about 2500rpm. I used a big cooler and didn't load the motor while in the stall speed and had no problems.
