Looking for a good buy on a helmet and jacket online. Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Helmet

-DOT
-prefer full face

Jacket
-don't know anything about fire jackets
-has to meet NHRA standards for 11's and Nitrous use

For 11.49 to 10.00 Ets N/A, or nitrous-equipped 13.99 to 10.00 w/ full OEM firewall, a SFI Spec 3.2A/1 (single layer) jacket is mandatory. Without the OEM firewall a SFI Spec 3.2A/5 jacket is mandantory.

AFAIK you will not beat Jegs or Summit for these items. I got mine from Jegs.

I bought my SFI (single-layer) jacket from Jeg's (Jeg's brand). If you're an NHRA member, Jeg's also has a racer discount program. I think the jacket was $41.00 w/ the discount, and that is as cheap as it gets. They are black w/ gold Jeg’s letters and gold stripes on the sleeves.

Any brand/style single layer fire jacket is all you need.

As for the helmet, if it has a Snell rating, it doesn't matter where it was made. It costs a lot of money to get a helmet to pass and receive a Snell rating. Ignore the 2000 rating. Go for one with a 2005 rating. Go to your local motorcycle shop and find a helmet you like and just make sure it has a M2005 rating decal inside it. That's all you need to pass tech. You need an SA rated helmet plus they also cost a lot more. Open or closed face is your choice. Both are legal. If it doesn't have a Snell rating but a DOT etc only, it won't pass tech.
